SESSION
The Session is the governing body of the church. The Session meets monthly and is moderated by Pastor Thomas.

DEACONS

Congregational care continues to be the primary responsibility of the Deacons. Our duties include:

1. Scheduling Deacon greeters for each Sunday.

2. Maintaining an active card ministry and making phone calls and visits throughout the year.

3. Dedicating roses on the Communion table for newborns.

4. Taking meals to some people just home from the hospital, or with special needs.

5. Updating addresses for our students in college and those in the Military.
Send encouraging cards and "Care" packages.

6. Christmas Food Baskets. The deacons collect, sort and distribute food baskets to area families.

7. Assist with Communion.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEE
The Christian Education Committee is responsible for educating church members and their children in the faith and nurturing them in their spiritual growth. The primary responsibilities include such things as supervising all of the education programs of the church, recruiting and providing training for teachers, evaluating and selecting Sunday School curriculum, and planning our annual Vacation Bible School and Christmas programs. Many of these activities are done in conjunction with our Sunday school Coordinator.

FINANCE COMMITTEE
The Finance Committee oversees the income and expenses of our church. The biggest task is preparing the budget for each year and running the stewardship campaign, encouraging everyone to support our mission as a Christian Family. We promote special offerings throughout the year, One Great Hour of Sharing, Witness, Peacemaking and Christmas. In May we emphasize the importance of remembering the church in your wills, or by investing through the Presbyterian Foundation, which the Church receives the interest from your investment upon death. At present we have four families invested with the Foundation for this purpose. Each month the financial status is published to keep the congregation informed on our finances.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The Nominating Committee recuites people to be selected for the different church committees.

OUTREACH & EVANGELISM
We meet monthly, enjoying dinner and conversation before getting down to business. Our activities incude:

  • Harvest Dinner: a free dinner for the community.
  • Internet service: to help the office communicate with Presbytery and the congregation.
  • Web Page: to reach out to people seeking religion and worship.
  • Newspaper Advertisements: printed weekly in the Onieda Daily Dispatch.
  • Sponser the First Sunday of the Month Luncheon following worship services.

PERSONNEL COMMITTEE
